A print from the Flora series that was inspired by a trip to Costa Rica in 2015, this image evolved from a recycled copper plate that was printed in 1970. The original image was scraped and burnished, re-oriented and re-drawn, creating a new image emerging through the partially removed field of the old image – an “excavation” of sorts. (See PRINTS)
Also within the Flora theme, this drawing was developed with graphite initially, using over-lapping lines in a fluid allusion to biomorphic natural shapes. Ink and water color as well as softer graphite was then used to emphasize particular contours within the composition. (See DRAWINGS)
Like Excavation above, this work was developed from a "recycled" painting. The original landscape painting was re-oriented to a vertical image and evolved through several drawing studies and other works within the series. (See PAINTINGS and DRAWINGS)
